1/21/2010  · The TI -8x series calculators can only graph one variable equations if you have more than one, you’ll have to solve it manually. If the equation involves both x and y , then try rewriting it for y . For example, if you wanted to graph 5x ? 2y = 10, you would solve it for y . 5x ? 2y = 10. 5x = 10 + 2y. 5x ? 10= 2y. y = 5/2x ? 5, keys to place the cursor on the number currently assigned to that variable and then key in the new value. As you start to key in the new value, the old value is erased. Press [ENTER] when you’re finished entering the new value (as illustrated in the second screen, where values are assigned to variables Y , M, and X ).


As a timesaver, when entering functions in the Y= editor, you can reference another function. Use the shortcut Y-VAR menu to paste a function name in the function you’re entering in the Y= editor. Just press [ALPHA] [TRACE] and choose the name of the function you want to insert in your equation. See the first screen.
